Chinese President Xi Jinping called for efforts to open up new horizons for high-quality development of the country's services sector.
Xi Jinping, also general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission, made the call while giving instructions in connection with the holding of the National Conference on the Service Industry in Beijing from April 7 to 8.
According to Xi Jinping, since the 18th CPC National Congress, China's service sector has steadily expanded in scale and continuously improved in quality and efficiency, playing an important role in supporting industrial upgrading, meeting people's needs and stimulating employment growth.
Stressing the importance of demand-led development, addressing complex reform challenges, building capacity through science and technology, and expanding openness and cooperation, Xi called for measures to expand the capacity and improve the quality of the service sector.
Xi Jinping emphasized that efforts should be made to promote manufacturing services toward greater specialization and the upper end of the value chain, promote the high-quality, diversified and convenient development of consumer services, and cultivate more brands under the "China Services" umbrella.
