Tajikistan continues to implement a large-scale environmental program that aims to plant two billion trees by 2040. This was announced by Bakhodur Sheralizoda, Chairman of the Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, during a speech at the 2026 Regional Environmental Summit in Astana, according to NIAT Khovar.

According to him, the key goal of the state greening program is to improve the environmental situation and ensure sustainable development of the environment.
The initiative aims to expand the area of green spaces, restore forests and rationally use natural resources.
The main objectives include preserving biodiversity, preventing desertification, reducing soil degradation, and adapting to climate change.
The program's implementation is expected to have a positive impact on air quality, improve the population's standard of living, and contribute to the preservation of the natural environment for future generations.
