In accordance with the "State Program for the Development of the Geological Sector of the Republic of Tajikistan for 2021–2030," approved by Government Resolution No. 172 of April 30, 2021, the Main Geology Department of Tajikistan conducted geological exploration of the subsoil in the first half of 2025. Funded by the state budget, the project covered 32 projects totaling 21,756,000 somoni. The work covered ferrous, non-ferrous, precious, and rare metals, semiprecious, and ornamental stones, as well as hydrogeology, engineering geology, and geoecology, the department reports.
Contractual work was completed on 174 projects for a total of 16,978,000 somoni. Overall, work performed through the business model amounted to 37,247,700 somoni, 5,053,800 somoni more than for the same period in 2024, representing a growth rate of 116%.
During the reporting period, the Main Directorate of Geology paid taxes to the budget in the amount of 12,112,700 somoni, which is 1,284,500 somoni more than for the same period of the previous year.
During the reporting period, the unitary enterprises of the Main Directorate of Geology carried out comprehensive geological surveys, including the development of exploration routes with radiometric observations, topographic and geological surveys, geophysical exploration, including magnetic surveys, at scales of 1:10,000 and 1:2,000, ditching, clearing and documenting sections, sampling, processing and analysis, engineering work on the construction and reconstruction of roads, preparation of drilling sites, drilling wells and other auxiliary work.
As a result of the completed work, a reliable geological database was created. Consolidated geological reports were reviewed and approved by the Scientific and Technical Council of the Main Directorate. Ore bodies of vanadium, gold, silver, lead, zinc, and antimony, as well as ornamental and precious stones, including amethyst, were discovered and described. Their lithological, structural, and morphogenetic characteristics were determined, detailed analyses were conducted, the degree of mineralization and ore quality indicators were established, and preliminary reserves by category were estimated. The obtained results confirm the high prospects for further development of exploration and appraisal work in the fields of non-ferrous metals, rare metals, and ornamental and precious stones.
Along with the implementation of program projects, the Main Directorate's divisions conduct geological surveys based on contracts with TVEA-Dushanbe-Mining Industry, Tajikistan-China Mining and Industrial Company, Zarafshan, Talco Gold, Nigohi Oyanda, Rushdi Sanoati Khaituo, and other companies within the licensed areas.
