Over the past seven years, more than 2,600 industrial enterprises have been built and commissioned in Tajikistan, creating over 87,000 jobs. Specifically, 400 manufacturing enterprises will begin operations in 2025, according to NIAT Khovar, citing the Ministry of Industry and New Technologies of the Republic of Tajikistan.
It is reported that, in order to achieve one of Tajikistan's strategic national goals—accelerated industrialization—the country implemented significant measures in this area between 2019 and 2025. During this period, industrial production increased 2.5-fold. The industrial sector's growth rate in 2025 is projected to be 22 percent.
At the same time, the volume of production in the mining industry increased from 7.7 billion somoni in 2020 to 26 billion somoni in 2025, which ensured a 3.4-fold increase in this indicator.
As noted in the Address of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon, to the Majlisi Oli on December 16, 2025, while in 1991, the mineral mining and processing sector produced three types of products—gold, silver, and lead powder—in 2025, this figure increased to 17 types. Currently, gold production has increased sevenfold compared to 1991, silver production has increased sixfold, and lead powder production has increased ninefold.
"In order to continue this process, the Ministry of Industry and New Technologies must, through the use of all capacities and capabilities, ensure the industry's real annual growth rate over the next five years at a level of no less than 25 percent," the President instructed.
An order was also given to take additional measures to attract domestic and foreign investment to create new enterprises for the deep processing of domestic raw materials, in particular minerals, non-ferrous, rare and precious metals, agricultural products and medicinal plants, as well as to increase the production volumes of export-oriented and import-substituting products.
It is recalled that the Government of the Republic has been tasked with developing, adopting, and implementing the “New Program for Accelerated Industrialization of Tajikistan for 2026–2030,” as well as a program for developing the production and enrichment of non-ferrous, rare, and precious metals and other strategically important raw materials.
The Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Industry and New Technologies, the Main Directorate of Geology, and the Tax Committee, together with other ministries and departments, have been tasked with preparing regulatory legal acts governing activities in these areas and submitting them to the Government for consideration.
It is noted that the documents being developed should clearly reflect issues related to the full coverage of statistical accounting, the simplification of government procedures, including licensing, the improvement of the taxation of natural resources, and the resolution of other pressing issues.
It is emphasized that in the process of implementing the set tasks, special attention should be paid to the development of light industry, deep processing of products and the production of rare and strategically important metals.
