Sixteen foreign languages are taught at higher education institutions in the Republic of Tajikistan, according to the press center of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Tajikistan.
Currently, there are more than 1,500 study groups with Russian as the language of instruction, as well as over 200 study groups with English as the language of instruction, operating in the country's universities.
It is noted that the republic's institutions of higher professional education train specialists in the following foreign languages: Russian, English, German, French, Italian, Spanish, Uzbek, Persian, Arabic, Chinese, Korean, Japanese, Hindi, Urdu and Pashto.
The Ministry of Education and Science emphasized that the study of foreign languages is considered a priority for higher education institutions. This area was specifically highlighted in the President of the Republic of Tajikistan's Address to the Majlisi Oli.
The teaching of Russian and English languages in institutions of higher professional education is carried out within the framework of the implementation of the “State Program for Improving the Teaching and Study of Russian and English Languages in the Republic of Tajikistan for the Period up to 2030.”
In this regard, the Ministry of Education and Science has instructed the management of higher education institutions to take additional measures aimed at further increasing the number of study groups with Russian and English as the languages of instruction, including in the natural sciences, science, and mathematics.
