US authorities have transferred Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, to a detention center in Brooklyn, New York City, CNN reports.
According to the agency, the plane carrying Nicolás Maduro and Cilia Flores landed at Stewart Air National Guard Base in New York around 4:30 PM local time. The Venezuelan president and his wife were then taken to the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration in Manhattan and then transferred to a detention center.
It is noted that the American authorities used helicopters and cars to transport Maduro and Flores throughout New York.
In turn, NBC News reports that Nicolás Maduro may appear in court in New York on January 5.
