The Eurasian Development Bank (EDB) intends to intensify the implementation of projects in Tajikistan, Deputy Chairman of the Bank's Management Board Ruslan Dalenov announced during a press conference, TASS reports.
According to him, the bank is currently reviewing projects worth $48 million in the food industry, wood processing, road infrastructure, and other sectors. "Work in the region will be intensified," Dalenov emphasized. As an example, he cited the $17 million road reconstruction project on the Labijar-Kalaikhumb section, which includes the construction of three bridges. The deputy chairman noted that the project has not yet been signed, but is at an advanced stage of readiness, with all financing aspects having been finalized.
Additionally, agreements worth $16 million have been signed in Tajikistan's agricultural sector. Financing projects are also being implemented through microfinance organizations, specifically Imon International. "This is a unique project that allows an international microfinance organization to indirectly support the development of small and medium-sized businesses through a local bank. The EDB's contribution was $3 million, and through Arvand Bank, small businesses will receive $5 million," Dalenov explained.
He added that the bank provides technical assistance for the successful implementation of projects. $3.4 million has been allocated for these purposes, including the development of an electronic map of Dushanbe, the organization of electronic interactions between the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of Tajikistan, training in public-private partnerships, and the preparation of technical documentation for various projects.
The Eurasian Development Bank is an international financial institution investing in Eurasia to expand economic ties and promote the comprehensive development of its member countries: Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, and Tajikistan. Uzbekistan joined the bank in 2025.
