Secretary of the Security Council of the Republic of Tajikistan Yusuf Rahmon met with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Tajikistan Semyon Grigoryev, as reported by NIAT Khovar.
During the meeting, special attention was paid to the murder of a minor citizen of the Republic of Tajikistan, Kobiljon Aliyev, which occurred in the city of Odintsovo in the Moscow region of the Russian Federation.
Yusuf Rahmon stated that "this monstrous crime has caused serious concern and widespread public outcry in Tajik society." It was noted that the incident had sparked numerous reactions from civil society.
The Tajik side emphasized the need for a comprehensive, fair, and transparent investigation into the murder of Kobiljon Aliyev by the competent authorities of the Russian Federation and emphasized the importance of ensuring the protection of the rights and safety of minors as a common priority.
Ten-year-old Kobiljon Aliyev was reportedly killed on December 16 at a school in the Moscow region by a 15-year-old boy motivated by ethnic hatred. Kobiljon Aliyev's body was returned to Tajikistan and buried in the Shahrinav district.
At the same time, during the meeting, issues of bilateral cooperation in the field of security, as well as the current state and prospects for the development of strategic relations between Tajikistan and Russia were discussed.
The parties discussed cooperation between the competent authorities of the two countries in ensuring national and regional security, including the fight against terrorism and extremism, transnational organized crime, and illegal drug and arms trafficking.
At the end of the meeting, the parties expressed their readiness to continue constructive dialogue and strengthen bilateral cooperation in all areas.
