A criminal case has been opened against two residents of the Kushoniyon Khatlon district for human trafficking, the Tajik Ministry of Internal Affairs reported .
According to the agency, the suspects deceived a 28-year-old woman into traveling to Russia in 2023 and forced her into prostitution.
"A 37-year-old woman, acting on instructions from her accomplice, a 46-year-old woman living in Moscow, met the victim on September 22, 2023, in the city of Bokhtar. Taking advantage of the young woman's difficult situation, they promised her a job at a 'large restaurant in Moscow' and convinced her to go there to earn money," the police statement reads.
According to the agency, on September 24 of that year, the suspect sent the victim from Bokhtar to Moscow. There, she was met by a man named "Polvon" belonging to the second suspect, who placed her in a hotel, after which she was forced into prostitution.
Both suspects have been charged with human trafficking and sexual exploitation. The investigation is ongoing.
