In the first half of this year, Tajik Customs Service officers prevented 183 cases of illegal movement of goods, totaling 3.6 million somoni. This was announced at a press conference on Tuesday by the head of the service, Khurshed Karimzoda.
According to him, during the reporting period, 134 cases of importing excisable goods without paying the established fees were identified, which is more than three times higher than the figure for the same period in 2024 (44 cases).
“In particular, 52 cases of illegal import of alcoholic products were stopped
"Promotions, 24 cases of tobacco products, 18 cases of other excisable goods—energy and carbonated drinks, passenger cars, and rubber tires. In addition, four cases of illegal movement of jewelry and one case of import of precious metals were identified," Karimzoda noted.
He emphasized that strengthening controls at customs posts and the introduction of modern inspection methods have significantly improved the effectiveness of detecting violations. The Customs Service intends to continue its efforts to curb smuggling and protect the country's economic interests.
