Seven new overpasses are planned for Dushanbe to ease traffic congestion and improve road infrastructure. $58 million in grants from international donors will be allocated for the project, First Deputy Mayor Bakhtiyor Sharifi announced at a press conference at the city hall.
According to Sharifi, overpasses will be installed in the city's busiest areas, where significant congestion is recorded daily. These include:
the intersection of Sokhili and Yuzhnaya streets, where a bridge will also be built across the Dushanbinka River;
intersection of Abdurakhmon Jomi and A. Kakhhorov streets;
intersection of Abay and A. Kakhhorov streets;
intersection of Sadi Sherozi and Khofizi Sherozi streets;
intersection of Sheralizoda and Khofizi Sherozi streets;
intersection of Nazarshoev, Aini streets and Saadi Sherozi avenue;
intersection of Saadi Sherozi and Negmat Karabaev avenues.
City authorities hope that the construction of these interchanges will significantly reduce the load on the road network and reduce travel time for residents of the capital.
