Police in Tajikistan's capital have uncovered two cases of illegal fortune-telling and witchcraft, according to the Dushanbe Department of Internal Affairs.
According to the department, district police officers from the Shokhmansur District Department of Internal Affairs No. 2 detained Kim Roza Dyannenova, while officers from the Sino District Department of Internal Affairs No. 1 detained Islom Muminov. It was established that the detainees hosted people in their homes, using photographs, water, ispand (harmala), cards, and other items to perform fortune-telling and witchcraft rituals. They received monetary compensation for their "services."
Administrative protocols were drawn up against both violators under Article 482 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Republic of Tajikistan. By court order, they were held accountable and fined.
Law enforcement agencies have issued a reminder that such actions are illegal and considered a public disorder. Dushanbe residents are advised to refrain from contacting individuals offering occult or "magical" services.
