In the capital of Tajikistan, police detained a man who faked an Instagram account and used it to extort money and distribute offensive material. This was reported by the Dushanbe Department of Internal Affairs.
According to the agency, officers from the Shokhmansur District Department of Internal Affairs No. 2 detained Burkhoniddin Narzulloev after a woman reportedly filed a complaint about her name and photographs being illegally used. An investigation revealed that the man had created a fake page in the complainant's name, posted her photographs and videos, insulted citizens, and engaged in extortion.
Law enforcement agencies emphasized that using social media requires compliance with established rules and regulations. Registering pages under false names, publishing offensive materials, and extortion using citizens' personal information are subject to administrative and criminal penalties.
The necessary materials have been compiled regarding Narzulloev, and further investigation is underway.
