Dushanbe Mayor Rustami Emomali signed a decree allocating material and monetary assistance to socially vulnerable residents of the capital in the lead-up to the 34th anniversary of Tajikistan's independence, according to the city administration's press service.
In total, approximately five thousand people received support. Among them were veterans and disabled veterans of the Great Patriotic War of 1941–1945, persons of equal status, students of a state educational institution for orphans and street children, and employees of city road maintenance departments.
The mayor's office emphasized that caring for orphans, the disabled, low-income families, and other needy citizens is an important part of the state's social policy. Such humanitarian initiatives are being implemented with the support of Tajik President Emomali Rahmon and Dushanbe Mayor Rustami Emomali.
In addition, the resolution instructs district leaders in the capital to take measures to provide targeted assistance to orphans, street children, and single citizens in the lead-up to Independence Day.
