A large-scale vaccination campaign against the human papillomavirus (HPV) will be held in Tajikistan from October 1 to 31. The first phase of the campaign will target 10-year-old girls, the country's Ministry of Health announced.
Once the vaccine is introduced into the national immunization schedule, it will be available to girls aged 11 to 14. HPV vaccination is planned to be fully included in the immunization schedule in 2025–2026.
Experts note that the vaccine is most effective and ensures the development of a robust immune response in children aged 10–14 years. The campaign was approved by government decree on July 24, 2025.
To prepare for immunization, the Ministry has organized training events for healthcare workers and educational institution staff, as well as informational and outreach work among the public.
"Mass vaccination against HPV will reduce the risk of developing cancers associated with the virus and improve the health of future generations," the Ministry of Health emphasized.
