In Tajikistan, 16.08 billion somoni were invested in the construction sector from all sources in the first eight months of 2025, representing a 120.9% increase compared to the same period in 2024 at comparable prices. This was reported to the Khovar news agency by Firdavs Asmatbekzoda, Head of the Department of Statistics of Industry and Investment in Construction at the Agency of Statistics under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan.
According to the head, the distribution of investments by region was as follows: Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region – 722.2 million somoni; Khatlon Region – 2.34 billion somoni; Sughd Region – 2.09 billion somoni; Dushanbe – 4.62 billion somoni; districts subordinate to the republic – 6.32 billion somoni.
The country's government is constantly focusing on developing the construction sector. Particular attention is paid to improving the quality of construction for various purposes, integrating national architecture with modern standards, studying international practices, streamlining the urban development system, and enforcing building codes and regulations.
In 2025, active construction is underway in various areas: the construction of modern buildings, residential buildings, industrial enterprises, social infrastructure facilities—schools, kindergartens, sports facilities, street lighting, landscaping, and landscaping.
According to the Statistics Agency, 740,900 square meters of residential buildings were commissioned in the country in the first eight months of 2025. By region: Sughd Region – 303,100 square meters; Khatlon Region – 168,000 square meters; Dushanbe City – 195,100 square meters; districts subordinate to the republic – 68,900 square meters.
Hundreds of new facilities are planned for the 35th anniversary of Tajikistan's independence. As part of the implementation of the Government's decision "On the celebration of the 35th anniversary of the independence of the Republic of Tajikistan," oversight is underway for the construction of facilities scheduled for completion by the anniversary.
According to the Committee for Architecture and Construction under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, a total of 29,919 facilities are planned for construction in time for the celebration of the 35th anniversary of the country's independence, of which 23,228 have already been commissioned, and work on 4,594 facilities is ongoing.
The committee ensures high-quality construction, timely delivery of design documentation, state expert review, and support for entrepreneurial initiatives. In the first half of 2025, state design institutes and enterprises completed design and research work totaling 21.72 million somoni, representing 116.9% of the same period in 2024.
Firdavs Asmatbekzoda, Head of the Department of Industry and Investment Statistics in Construction, reported that 15 schools with a total of 16,380 seats were commissioned in the first eight months of 2025, including: Khatlon Region – 7,947 seats; Dushanbe City – 6,365 seats; Sughd Region – 1,460 seats; districts subordinate to the republic – 512 seats; Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region – 96 seats.
