The President of Kazakhstan signed a decree appointing Yermek Kosherbayev as the country's Minister of Foreign Affairs. Prior to this appointment, Kosherbayev served as Deputy Prime Minister, according to the Akorda press service.
"By decree of the head of state, Yermek Bedelbaevich Kosherbayev has been appointed Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan and relieved of his previous position as Deputy Prime Minister," the statement said.
Yermek Kosherbayev has extensive experience in various government positions. Previously, he served as Kazakhstan's Ambassador, headed the East Kazakhstan Region, and held senior positions at the Ministry of Agriculture, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and national companies. He speaks Kazakh, Russian, English, and Korean. On February 14, 2025, Kosherbayev was appointed Deputy Prime Minister of Kazakhstan.
As part of the personnel reshuffle, Murat Nurtleu, previously Minister of Foreign Affairs, has been appointed Assistant to the President for International Investment and Trade Cooperation. Yerzhan Kazykhan has been relieved of his post as Assistant to the President for International Affairs and appointed Permanent Representative of Kazakhstan to the UN and other international organizations in Geneva, Switzerland. Accordingly, Yerlan Alimbayev has been relieved of this post.
