Members of the CIS Healthcare Cooperation Council, heads of the Council's core organizations, and commissions visited Tajikistan's Shifobakhsh National Medical Center, the Istiklol Medical Complex, and the Tajik State Medical University, the CIS Executive Committee press service reported.
The visit took place as part of a meeting of the Commonwealth Health Council, scheduled for October 3, 2025, in Dushanbe.
The Shifobakhsh National Medical Center of Tajikistan is the country's leading multidisciplinary institution. It performs complex neurosurgical procedures, provides care to patients with neurological diseases, and provides hemodialysis. The center's doctors actively utilize both traditional methods and modern high-tech interventions, significantly increasing the effectiveness of treatment.
The guests also toured the Istiklol Medical Complex, a major medical complex comprising 38 buildings offering both medical and surgical services. All necessary conditions have been created for the admission, diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation, and relaxation of patients.
Particular attention was paid to the development of new diagnostic and treatment methods. In recent years, Tajikistan has been actively implementing innovative approaches in oncology, gastrointestinal surgery, cardiovascular surgery, endovascular interventions, and the treatment of respiratory and hearing diseases.
Representatives from CIS countries learned about the organization of medical training at the Avicenna Tajik State Medical University, one of the country's leading educational institutions. The university comprises five faculties: medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, pediatrics, and public health, comprising 63 departments. The faculty consists of over 1,000 members, including 108 doctors of science and professors, and 350 candidates of science.
The heads of the base organizations and the commission chairs also familiarized themselves with the work of the blood center, endocrinology and oncology services, the organization of the sanitary and epidemiological safety service, emergency situations, and emergency medical care.
