Most markets and shopping centers in Dushanbe will be closed from October 8 to 10 in connection with the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) summit, the capital's mayor's office and the Dushanbe Department of Internal Affairs (DIA) announced.
The temporary restrictions apply to the Korvon, Korvon-Plus, Khovaron, Moshinasaroy (2927), Kushoniyon, Farovon, and Balkh markets, as well as the Panchsher, Ganchina, Fayez-2015, Varzob TK, and Kavsar shopping centers.
In addition, a sanitary day has been declared at the Sakhovat market on October 11, and at the Mehrgon market on October 13.
The city's Ministry of Internal Affairs' decision clarifies that the closure of markets and shopping centers is aimed at ensuring the safety of summit participants, organizing vehicle traffic, and preventing large crowds. The department also requires market and shopping center managers to comply with fire safety regulations during these days.
The temporary closure decision specifically concerns the Korvon and Kushoniyon markets and the Panchsher, Ganchina, and Sadbarg shopping centers.
The Dushanbe City Hall emphasized that residents and visitors to the capital should stock up on essential goods in advance, as some markets will be closed from October 8 to 10. Furthermore, employees of markets, shopping centers, hotels, and restaurants are required to maintain cleanliness, wear uniforms, and maintain service standards and ethics.
Preparations for the CIS summit began in late September. Flower beds were installed on 11 streets and avenues in the capital, using over two million seasonal flowers.
The CIS Heads of State Summit will take place on October 9–10. On the eve of this visit, Russian President Vladimir Putin will arrive in Dushanbe. A meeting of heads of state in the "Central Asia–Russia" format is planned as part of his visit.
