Agricultural producers in Khatlon Region have fulfilled their cotton harvest plan by 91.53%. This was reported by the regional administration's press service. As of today, 11 cities and districts have completed the harvest.
This year, the cotton harvest plan in 19 cities and districts of Khatlon Region is 254,300 tons. As of October 22, 232,755.6 tons of cotton have been harvested.
Among the 19 districts of the region specializing in cotton growing, 11 cities and districts – Levakant, Bokhtar, Dusti, Yovon, Dangara, Vakhsh, Khuroson, Ҷayhun, Gololiddini Balkhi, Abdurakhmoni Ҷomi and Kushoniyon – have fully implemented the harvest plan.
Cotton farming in Tajikistan is one of the key strategic sectors of the country's economy. Cotton processing allows for the production of over 300 types of products.
This crop is grown primarily for its fiber. In addition to fiber, cotton is also used to produce seeds, oil, animal feed, and other products. The primary raw material is cotton fiber, which is used in the textile and other industries.
Compliance with harvest plans ensures a stable supply of raw materials for the processing industry and contributes to the economic development of the Khatlon region and the entire republic.
