An 18-year-old resident of the Ayni district drowned in Lake Iskandarkul, located in northern Tajikistan. This was reported by the press service of the Committee for Emergency Situations and Civil Defense under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan.
The incident occurred on the morning of July 27, 2025, at approximately 10:35 local time. It was established that the deceased was Karimzoda Dilshod, born in 2007, a resident of the village of Makhshevat, Jamoat Fondaria, Ayni district, Sughd region. The young man was swimming in a section of Lake Iskandarkul prohibited for swimming, where accidents regularly occur due to the depth and underwater currents.
After receiving a report of the incident, citizens promptly contacted the officer of the district unit of the KChS. A rescue team from the Zarafshan zone was sent to the scene of the tragedy. The specialists who arrived confirmed the fact of drowning and began a search and rescue operation with the involvement of a diver from the Sughd regional department of the KChS.
Within a short time, the body of the drowned man was discovered, removed from the water and handed over to relatives for burial.
Representatives of the Emergency Situations Committee once again called on citizens and visitors to the region to strictly observe safety rules when swimming and refrain from visiting places where swimming is officially prohibited. "Every life is priceless," the department emphasized.
