The Istanbul Public Prosecutor's Office has issued an arrest warrant for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and 36 other high-ranking Israeli officials. They are accused of genocide in the Gaza Strip and obstructing the delivery of humanitarian aid, RMA News reports.
According to the prosecutor's office, Israeli authorities are also accused of carrying out massive bombings of the Gaza Strip. The investigation began following an incident in October, when Israeli forces detained activists of the Global Resilience Flotilla who were attempting to deliver humanitarian aid to Gaza. Doctors and psychologists who examined the flotilla members, who were deported to Turkey, found evidence of crimes against humanity.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has previously criticized the Israeli Prime Minister's actions in the wake of Israel's strikes against Iran and the Palestinian Hamas movement. The Turkish leader emphasized that Ankara will continue to support states and peoples facing Israeli aggression.
