The Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of the Republic of Tajikistan held a meeting between the First Deputy Minister Solehzoda Ashurboy Abduvalizoda and representatives of the analytical mission of the international rating agency Standard & Poor's, who are visiting the country. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of the Republic of Tajikistan.
During the meeting, the Tajik side expressed gratitude to the agency for maintaining a stable sovereign credit rating of Tajikistan, noting the importance of such an assessment for strengthening the investment climate and developing foreign economic cooperation.
Solehzoda informed the S&P delegation about the current socio-economic situation in the republic, emphasizing that in the context of an unstable global environment, the national economy is demonstrating stability. He noted that in 2024, the real GDP growth rate was 8.4%, and over the past five years, economic growth in the country has consistently exceeded 8% per year.
Particular attention was paid to the measures being implemented to ensure macroeconomic stability, which became possible thanks to the consistent policy of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon. It was emphasized that the policy being pursued allowed to minimize potential internal and external risks, ensuring sustainable growth even in difficult conditions.
The Tajik side proposed that the rating agency consider the possibility of increasing the forecast for the country's credit rating in the medium term. The agency's representatives welcomed this initiative and highly praised the results achieved in the macroeconomic sphere, emphasizing the stability of the national economy against the backdrop of external challenges.
Following the negotiations, the parties confirmed their mutual interest in further constructive and mutually beneficial cooperation.
