Tajik President Emomali Rahmon has ordered the full elimination of the devastating mudflow in the Rushan district within one month and the provision of necessary assistance to affected residents in restoring their homes and other facilities, according to the presidential press service.
The head of state gave the corresponding order on July 23 during a telephone conversation with the chairman of the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region, Sharifkhon Safarzoda.
According to the presidential press service, during the conversation, Emomali Rahmon heard a report on the progress of the disaster relief efforts in the Rushan district.
Following the conversation, the President instructed the GBAO leadership, in conjunction with central government agencies, to complete restoration work as quickly as possible, fully address the consequences of the natural disaster, and provide the victims with the necessary assistance.
It is noted that corresponding instructions have also been given to the Prime Minister of Tajikistan, Kohir Rasulzoda, and the heads of responsible national agencies.
The press service emphasized that the progress of restoration work is under the personal control of the head of state.
