General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and President of the People's Republic of China Xi Jinping held talks in Pyongyang with Kim Jong-un, General Secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and Chairman of State Affairs of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.
The Chinese President stated that the two countries must resolutely safeguard their sovereignty, security, and development interests, and jointly support regional peace and development. The Chinese leader emphasized the need to strengthen strategic coordination and cooperation.
He also expressed his readiness to work with General Secretary Kim Jong-un to keep bilateral relations in step with the times and achieve further progress in interstate relations.
The Chinese President expressed his intention to use this visit to strengthen strategic planning and determine the vector of China-North Korea relations in the new era.
He added that the firm position of the Chinese Party and government to prioritize traditional friendship with the DPRK will remain unchanged.
Xi Jinping emphasized that no matter how the international situation changes, the determination of the Chinese Party and government to protect the common interests of the two countries and maintain a favorable strategic environment will not change.
The parties should maintain their commitment to high-level contacts and strengthen the foundation of political mutual trust.
The Chinese President also noted that the two countries should adhere to the goal of serving the interests of the people and raise the level of practical cooperation.
According to him, China is ready to work with the DPRK to strengthen the alignment of development strategies and expand practical cooperation in areas such as economics and trade, agriculture, construction, science and technology, and healthcare.
Kim Jong-un, in turn, stated that relations between the two countries are developing dynamically in all areas, bringing tangible benefits to the peoples of both countries.
He noted that strengthening exchanges of experience and mutual learning through inter-party channels will provide valuable support to the development of the DPRK and help the North Korean people move towards modernization together with the Chinese people.
As a reminder, the Chinese President is in the DPRK on a two-day state visit.
