Bakhodur Sheralizoda, Chairman of the Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, addressed the 8th Assembly of the Global Environment Facility (GEF), which is taking place in Samarkand. This was reported by the press service of the Committee for Environmental Protection.
In his speech, the head of the department emphasized the need to increase the volume of climate finance and simplify mechanisms for accessing it for developing countries most vulnerable to the effects of climate change.



Bakhodur Sheralizoda also presented Tajikistan's international initiatives in the areas of water resources, climate, glacier conservation, and biodiversity. Special attention was paid to the country's national priorities, including the development of green energy and the implementation of the Greening Program of the Republic of Tajikistan until 2040.
During the presentation, the importance of continued support for projects aimed at climate change adaptation, land restoration, protection of mountain ecosystems, and sustainable management of natural resources was noted.
As the event participants emphasized, these areas remain an important part of efforts to ensure environmental sustainability and counter the effects of climate change.
