Unstable weather is forecast for Tajikistan on May 19, according to the press service of the Committee for Environmental Protection under the government of the republic.
According to the agency, heavy rainfall is expected in most regions of the country, including the Districts of Republican Subordination, the Kulyab zone, and the foothills of the Sughd region.
In some areas, thunderstorms and hail are possible.
Also on May 19, due to expected precipitation, an increase in water levels is predicted in the rivers Zeravshan, Obihingou, Vakhsh, Yakhsu, Kyzylsu (southern), as well as in the rivers flowing from the southern slopes of the Gissar Range.
According to the agency, the risk of mudflows remains high across most of the republic on May 19–20, with the exception of the eastern regions of the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region.
Due to worsening weather conditions, residents of the country are advised to take precautions.
