On May 15, 2026, a meeting of the co-chairs of the Intergovernmental Commission of Tajikistan and Russia on Economic Cooperation was held in Kazan with the participation of the Prime Minister of Tajikistan Kokhir Rasulzoda, Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Marat Khusnullin, and the Head of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the current state and prospects of bilateral cooperation in trade, investment, banking, energy, industry, agriculture, education, and culture. Tajikistan's Minister of Economic Development and Trade, Abdurahmonzoda Abdurahmon Safarali, also participated in the event.
The meeting participants emphasized that Russia remains one of Tajikistan's key strategic partners, and that trade and economic cooperation between the two countries continues to develop consistently.



According to data presented during the meeting, mutual trade between Tajikistan and Russia reached $2.4 billion in 2025. Positive growth trends also continued in the first three months of 2026.
Following the negotiations, the parties confirmed their readiness to further expand mutually beneficial cooperation.
In addition, a delegation from Tajikistan, headed by the country's Prime Minister, took part in the XVII International Economic Forum "Russia – Islamic World: KazanForum".
Speaking at the forum, Kokhir Rasulzoda stated that thanks to the implementation of effective economic policies, Tajikistan's gross domestic product growth rate in 2025 was 8.4 percent.
