The National Bank of Tajikistan announced that the commemorative 100-somoni banknote, issued to mark the 25th anniversary of the national currency, has been named a finalist for the 2026 International Association of Currency Affairs (IACA) Award for "Best Commemorative Banknote." This was reported by the National Bank of Tajikistan's press service.
The International Association of Currency Affairs awards annually for achievements in the fields of cash circulation, currency technology and banknote design.
As noted by the National Bank, the International Association of Currency Affairs is the international organization specializing in currency and banknotes. Each year, it holds the Excellence in Currency Awards competition, which recognizes the best currencies based on design, security technology, and innovation.
The inclusion of the Tajik banknote in the list of finalists means that it is recognized as one of the best among hundreds of world banknotes and meets international standards.
The commemorative 100-somoni banknote was introduced to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the national currency of the Republic of Tajikistan. Its design reflects key stages in the development of national statehood, the strengthening of the country's economy, and the development of the financial system.

The National Bank emphasized that the banknote's creation combined unique artistic design with national identity, modern security features, high-quality printing, and the country's national, cultural, and historical values.
It is noted that this is already the second international award for the commemorative 100 somoni banknote.
The first award was presented to the National Bank of Tajikistan on December 2, 2025, at the International Congress on High Security Printing in Kuala Lumpur.
The National Bank stated that the achieved results demonstrate the high level of design, modern security technologies, and quality of production of the national currency.
The National Bank of Tajikistan also expressed gratitude to the international partners, colleagues, and specialists who participated in the project's implementation.
According to the regulator, the inclusion of the commemorative banknote in the list of finalists for the IACA Currency Awards demonstrates high international recognition and contributes to strengthening the authority of Tajikistan's national currency on the global stage.
