May 3 marks the 80th anniversary of the opening of the International Military Tribunal for the Far East in Tokyo. This trial was of paramount importance to the entire world. Its results remain relevant today. However, not all criminals were brought to trial. That's why, in 1949, the USSR initiated a separate trial in Khabarovsk. The main case was the accusation against a group of former Japanese military personnel of creating special units that developed biological weapons during World War II. Our Khabarovsk correspondent, Tatyana Shevchuk, returned to the site of this historic trial, which demonstrated the inhumane methods used by the Kwantung Army.
