On April 24, 2026, the 82nd session of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP) adopted a resolution, "Strengthening Cooperation in Transport Connectivity and Logistics for Sustainable Development in Asia and the Pacific," initiated by the Republic of Tajikistan. This was reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan.
It is noted that the document was put forward under the leadership of the Founder of Peace and National Unity – Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon and is considered an important step towards the development of sustainable, inclusive and integrated transport systems in the region.
The text of the resolution reflects current challenges in the field of transport and logistics and emphasizes its alignment with key international initiatives, including the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the UN Decade of Sustainable Transport 2026–2035.
It emphasizes that Tajikistan, as a landlocked developing country, places particular importance on developing transit connectivity. The document emphasizes the need to consider the specific needs of such countries and calls for strengthening cooperation with transit countries and international partners.
