Tajik Interior Minister Ramazon Rahimzoda participated in an international forum dedicated to countering transnational drug-related threats, the Tajik Ministry of Internal Affairs reported.
The forum, entitled "Countering Transnational Drug-Related Threats in the Interests of Public Health and Safety," was held from April 19 to 21, 2026, in Uzbekistan.
The forum was attended by high-ranking representatives of the Uzbek government, international organizations, ministers of internal affairs from the Commonwealth of Independent States, as well as representatives of China, Georgia, Turkey, Italy, and South Korea.
On the afternoon of April 20, Ramazon Rahimzoda met with Bakhodir Tashmatov, Commander of the National Guard of Uzbekistan. The two discussed measures to prevent negative social phenomena, including transnational threats related to drug trafficking, and their impact on public safety and public health.
On April 21, Ramazon Rahimzoda met with Bo Mathiasen, Director of the UN Office on Drugs and Crime's Division of Operations, as part of the forum. During the talks, special attention was paid to combating illicit drug trafficking, including synthetic drugs.
In addition, the Minister of Internal Affairs of Tajikistan held meetings with his counterparts from Georgia, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan. During these talks, regional integration and strengthening cooperation in countering modern threats and challenges were discussed.
