On April 18, 2026, tremors were recorded in Tajikistan, triggered by an earthquake whose epicenter was in Afghanistan. The Emergency Situations Committee reported this.
According to the Geophysical Service of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tajikistan, the seismic event occurred at 7:54 AM local time. The epicenter was located 269 kilometers southeast of Dushanbe and 268 kilometers southeast of the Tajikabad district, in Afghanistan.
The earthquake's magnitude at its epicenter was 5. The tremors were felt much weaker in Tajikistan: 2-3 in Dushanbe and 2 in the Tajikabad region.
According to official information, no casualties or damage were recorded.
The Emergency Situations Committee reports that the situation is under control and calls on citizens to remain calm and to use only official sources of information.
