On April 17, a working meeting was held in the Sughd region to summarize the region's socioeconomic development for the first quarter of 2026. This was reported by the regional governor's press service.
Opening the meeting, Sughd Region Chairman Rajab Akhmadzoda noted that from January to March of this year, authorities implemented measures to implement the policies of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon, as well as instructions arising from his Address to Parliament and working visits to cities and districts of the region.
According to him, thanks to the timely completion of tasks, the expansion of economic reforms, and the efficient use of budgetary funds, it was possible to ensure the sustainable development of the region's economy.
Deputy Governor of the region Faizullo Kosimi presented a report on the region's performance over the past three months. He reported that industrial production totaled 10.3 billion somoni, with the growth rate, adjusted for the price index, reaching 118.8% compared to the same period last year. The region's share of the republic's industrial output amounted to 64.1%.



During the reporting period, 1,321 industrial enterprises were operational, including 39 industrial service enterprises and 1,282 manufacturing enterprises. Twenty-four new enterprises and workshops were commissioned, creating 149 jobs.
Growth has also been achieved in agriculture. As of April 1, 2026, production volume amounted to 1 billion 966 million somoni, a 110% increase compared to the same period last year.
The spring sowing campaign continues in the region: as of the specified date, 41,830 hectares have been sown.
During the reporting period, 488 tons of vegetables, 25,500 tons of livestock and poultry meat, including 5,500 tons of poultry meat, 380.5 tons of fish, 88,400 tons of milk, 214 million eggs, and 218 tons of wool were produced. Production growth ranged from 100.1% to 120.1% depending on the product type.
In January–March 2026, 13 fairs were held to provide the population with food and regulate prices in the market, at which 1.5 thousand tons of products and 386.1 thousand eggs were sold at affordable prices.
In order to improve the water supply, 2 million somoni were allocated from the regional budget, including 1 million somoni to the Zafarabad district, 500 thousand somoni to the Matcha district, and 500 thousand somoni to the Asht district.
336.8 million somoni were allocated for the construction of social, cultural and industrial facilities, which is 122.6% of the level of the same period last year.



Over the course of three months, 38.5 km of roads were repaired in the cities and districts of the region, including major and routine repairs.
Retail turnover amounted to 5.6 billion somoni, an increase of 12.8%. Foreign trade turnover reached $1.3 billion, an increase of 41%.
Imports amounted to $779.2 million, an increase of 25.3%, while exports amounted to $518.6 million, an increase of 73.7%.
The region's economy attracted $241.8 million in investment, an 8.1% increase compared to last year.
The tax revenue plan was exceeded, ensuring the fulfillment of social obligations. State budget revenues amounted to 1 billion 823 million somoni (103.9% of the plan), while local budget revenues amounted to 1 billion 285 million somoni, exceeding the planned level.
The budget expenditure for the reporting period amounted to 1 billion 143 million somoni and was fully financed.
The deputy chairman of the region also presented information on the state of the spheres of education, healthcare, culture, work with women and family, sports, youth, and tourism.
Following the review, regional chairman Rajab Akhmadzoda issued instructions to address deficiencies and ensure sustainable development, emphasizing the need for efficient resource use, the creation of new jobs, and the reclamation of unused land.
Responsible officials have been instructed to ensure the timely completion of spring agricultural work, the fulfillment of tax plans, the attraction of investment, and the expansion of public works. Particular attention has been paid to fulfilling the spring conscription plan, educating young people in the spirit of patriotism, and the prevention of negative developments.
It was noted that, within the framework of 2026, declared the Year of Improvement and Strengthening of National Identity, it is necessary to intensify activities in preparation for the 35th anniversary of the state independence of the Republic of Tajikistan.
