The China Media Group Film Culture Carnival has kicked off in the eastern city of Ningbo. Guests can look forward to exciting events combining cinema, tourism, and intangible cultural heritage.
From tours of filming locations to television programs exploring the filmmaking process, the Ningbo Film Carnival offers a wealth of exciting activities for visitors from around the world.
Cairo Film Festival President Hussein Fahmy: "I bring many Chinese films to Cairo because they have a huge audience in Egypt. Chinese culture and emotions are very close to the Egyptian way of life. And I believe we can develop this exchange by showing interesting Egyptian films to Chinese audiences."
The film carnival includes a cultural fair open to the public. You can also see the film crew of the future. Robots act as camera operators, sound engineers, and even supervisors. While this is still just a concept, this is precisely the kind of team Sharebot is aiming to create.
Sharebot Brand Manager Jin Xiaoyue: "We want to move from industrial and general-purpose robots to family and artistic applications, expanding their application scenarios. This may be the world's first experiment with robots in the film industry."
The fair also features intangible cultural heritage items related to film, such as these ornaments. They often appear in period costume dramas.
Intangible cultural heritage bearer Gao Cong: "These kinds of jewelry are often worn by empresses in Qing Dynasty dramas. These are Ming Dynasty style. And what I'm holding is from the Song Dynasty. Historical dramas use elements appropriate to the era."
The carnival is boosting the development of Chinese cinema. Already during the May holiday – Labor Day – 18 new films will be released. This is 50% more than during the same period last year. (Photo: CMG)
