As a result of investigative operations conducted by police, it was established that a 32-year-old resident of the Kubodiyon district, who works as the chief inspector of the Kubodiyon district power grid, along with other district power grid inspectors, abused their official authority to intentionally and knowingly induce a 35-year-old resident of the same district, the owner of a grocery store and a bathhouse, to use electricity without proper documentation. This was reported by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Tajikistan.
According to the agency, from July 2024 to January 2026, they repeatedly debited his electricity bills. A total of 16,575 somoni were embezzled. They used the funds for personal use and issued payment receipts to another client to obtain gratuitous income.
A criminal case has been opened against the suspect under Part 2 of Article 245 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Tajikistan. An investigation is ongoing.
