The first laparoscopic gastrectomy using the Billroth II method was performed in Tajikistan. The operation was performed at the Republican Scientific Center for Cardiovascular Surgery, according to the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Tajikistan.
According to the agency, the patient was a 32-year-old man who sought medical attention complaining of significant weight loss, nausea, vomiting, pain and a feeling of heaviness in the upper abdomen, and heartburn.



After conducting an examination, doctors determined that the patient had suffered from gastric ulcer for more than 15 years.
According to the source, he was diagnosed with gastric ulcer and duodenal ulcer, decompensated pyloric stenosis, grade II cachexia, and a condition following suturing of a perforated duodenal ulcer.
It is noted that the minimally invasive operation performed was the first of its kind in the country.
