On March 11, 2026, an expert event was held in St. Petersburg to discuss current issues of managing and disposing of assets of corrupt origin transferred to the state, as well as organizing the circulation of digital currencies and other virtual assets. This was reported by the press service of the CIS Executive Committee.
The event was attended by the Executive Secretary of the Coordinating Council of Prosecutors General of the CIS Member States, Yuri Nikolaevich Zhdanov, representatives of the Prosecutor General's Offices of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Republic of Armenia, the Republic of Belarus, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Republic of Tajikistan, the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Russian Federation, representatives of the Secretariat of the Coordinating Council of Prosecutors General of the CIS Member States, the Prosecutor of St. Petersburg, Viktor Dmitrievich Melnik, as well as experts from relevant agencies and scientific organizations.
Yuri Nikolaevich Zhdanov, Executive Secretary of the Coordinating Council of Prosecutors General of the CIS Member States, Doctor of Law, Honored Lawyer of the Russian Federation, and Professor, delivered a presentation on "The Digital Transformation of Crime and New Challenges for CIS States: The Role of Prosecutor's Cooperation in Ensuring Security and Law and Order." In his speech, he emphasized the growing importance of international coordination of prosecutorial services in the context of the rapid digitalization of criminal schemes and the emergence of new forms of illicit asset trafficking.
During the expert session, reports were presented on a wide range of issues related to the topic of the event.
Azim Nasridinzoda, Deputy Head of the Department of International Relations and Legal Propaganda of the Prosecutor General's Office of the Republic of Tajikistan, delivered a presentation during a videoconference discussion on the event's topic.
It is noted that the event allowed participants to exchange best practices, discuss current issues, and identify promising areas for further cooperation between the prosecutor's offices of the CIS member states in the area of asset recovery and combating crimes committed using digital technologies.
The meeting participants expressed confidence in the need to continue such professional consultations on a regular basis.
