An agreement on medical examination of Tajik labor migrants for entry into Russia was signed in Dushanbe in October 2025.
In February, the Russian government submitted this document to the State Duma for ratification. The State Duma Committee on Health Protection later recommended ratification of the agreement.
It is noted that Tajik citizens will be able to undergo medical examinations before entering the Russian Federation within the republic. However, these examinations will only be conducted at organizations authorized by the Russian Ministry of Health.
According to official data, the overwhelming majority of Tajik citizens traveling abroad to work go to Russia.
During his state visit to Dushanbe in October 2025, Russian President Vladimir Putin noted the significant contribution of Tajik citizens to the growth of the Russian economy. He noted that more than one million Tajik citizens work in Russia in the construction and housing and utilities sectors, as well as in transportation and logistics.
