On March 4, employees of the State Automobile Inspectorate Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan held a campaign in Dushanbe titled "Seat Belts—Your Protection on the Road." The department reported this.
It is noted that the event was organized with the aim of raising the legal awareness of drivers and passengers, preventing road accidents, and promoting the mandatory use of seat belts.
During the campaign, State Traffic Inspectorate officers explained to road users the importance of following traffic rules on the city's streets and avenues, and distributed informational brochures among residents.
Participants of the event were also informed that wearing a seat belt can significantly reduce the risk of serious injury in a road accident and save a person's life.
It is noted that, in accordance with the requirements of the Road Traffic Regulations, the driver of a vehicle is required to wear a seat belt while driving and not to move until the front passenger has fastened their seat belt. This is one of the fundamental requirements and responsibilities of every driver, regardless of the type of vehicle.
According to the provisions of Article 333 of the Code of the Republic of Tajikistan on Administrative Offenses, the law provides for administrative sanctions for failure to use a seat belt.
For violation of traffic rules by drivers of vehicles resulting in damage to the vehicle, cargo, road, road structures, other objects or property, a fine of three to five calculated units or deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for a period of three to six months is provided.
Drivers who fail to comply with other traffic rules are subject to a fine of between half and one calculated indicator.
It is noted that wearing a seat belt is, first and foremost, a guarantee of safety for both driver and passenger. However, some drivers ignore the importance of wearing a seat belt and only buckle up when they see traffic police officers or in areas with surveillance cameras, in order to avoid a fine.
