In the city of Atyrau (Kazakhstan), the activities of two individuals suspected of intentionally infecting people with HIV have been stopped, Tengrinews.kz reports.
According to official data, two men, aged 23 and 28, were detained. They, knowing they were HIV-positive and registered with a specialized medical institution since December 2025, continued to provide paid sexual services under the guise of transgender people.
The investigation was carried out by officers from the Atyrau Regional Police Department's Organized Crime Unit. The suspects were detained and placed in a temporary detention facility. A criminal case has been opened for the transmission of HIV to another person who knew they were infected.
The police reminded that deliberately creating a threat to the life and health of citizens is a serious crime. Kazakhstani law provides for a prison sentence of five to ten years for such actions.
Law enforcement agencies emphasized that each incident will be given a legal assessment and that each culprit will be held accountable to the fullest extent of the law.
The necessary investigative actions are currently being carried out and the circle of victims is being established.
