The opening ceremony of a comprehensive family and child support department was held at the Konibodom City Health Center, according to the Ministry of Health and Social Protection of the Republic of Tajikistan.
In Tajikistan, maternal and child health is a priority area of social policy. With the support of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan and at the initiative of President Emomali Rahmon, several new child health facilities and departments were built and commissioned during the years of independence to improve children's access to rehabilitation services.
Creating conditions for the well-being and development of children is one of the priority tasks of the Republic of Tajikistan. The Republic places particular emphasis on the implementation of children's rights and is taking steps to ratify the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.

The opening ceremony was attended by Obidjon Aminov, Head of the Department for Children and Adolescents and Development of Parental Skills of the Ministry of Health and Social Protection of the Republic of Tajikistan; Arthur Van Diesen, Head of the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) Office in Tajikistan; Manzura Juraeva, Head of the Muzaffar Charitable Foundation; Marufjon Khodjiboev, Head of the Sughd Region Health Department; and staff of the Konibodom City Health Center.
The department was created on the initiative of the Ministry of Health and Social Protection of the Republic of Tajikistan with the support of the Muzaffar Charitable Foundation and in cooperation with the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) Office in Tajikistan.
As noted, the department's activities combine three key areas: healthcare, education, and social protection, with a family-oriented approach playing a key role.

The opening of the branch will help reach every child in their area of residence and will have a positive impact on improving the child's quality of life.
The Ministry of Health and Social Protection of the Population organizes and develops comprehensive services for all children, especially those with special needs and disabilities. In this way, the Ministry implements the child's rights to life, well-being, and development in accordance with the Convention on the Rights of the Child, and promotes the development of infrastructure and services in line with the ratification of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.
Development partners, including the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), have been making a significant contribution to achieving these goals. For many years, the UNICEF has been working on early childhood development, timely intervention, and the creation of similar departments in the republic.
The commissioning of the department will improve the level and quality of health and rehabilitation services for children in the city of Konibodom.
