The event "Prelude to the Spring Festival: The World Watches the Gala Concert" took place on February 10 in Moscow at Peoples' Friendship University of Russia. The project was jointly organized by China Media Group (CMG) and Peoples' Friendship University of Russia and brought together approximately 1,000 representatives of public circles and youth from China and Russia.
The event featured a Russian-language promotional video for the 2026 China Media Group Spring Festival Gala Concert, which vividly showcased the unique charm of Chinese New Year culture to Russian audiences. Shen Haixiong, Deputy Director of the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee and Director and Editor-in-Chief of CMG, delivered a video greeting. Speeches were also given by Boris Titov, Special Representative of the President of Russia and Chairman of the Russian-Chinese Committee for Friendship, Peace, and Development; Zhang Hanhui, Chinese Ambassador to Russia; Konstantin Mogilevsky, Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education of Russia; Vladimir Filippov, President of RUDN University; and Andrei Rudenko, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia, sent a letter of greetings on behalf of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Guests praised the role of the Gala Concert as a "golden calling card" of Chinese culture in strengthening mutual understanding and dialogue between civilizations, as well as in developing friendship between the peoples of China and Russia.
During the event, renowned Russian artist Anna Donchenko, on behalf of the Russian-Chinese Friendship Society, presented CMG with a painting dedicated to the Year of the Horse Gala Concert, thereby expressing good wishes for Russian-Chinese friendship. Joint performances by Chinese and Russian artists, including numbers from the Kostroma Ballet Theater, were the highlight of the evening.
An exhibition of CMG cultural and creative products and interactive zones were also organized, where guests could learn about the art of paper cutting, calligraphy of New Year's couplets, shaped candies, and traditional costumes, and immerse themselves in the atmosphere of Chinese New Year.
