Law enforcement agencies in Tajikistan and Afghanistan are working together to prevent incidents on the state border. This was announced by Tajikistan's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sirodjiddin Mukhriddin, during a press conference on the results of 2025.
According to him, this issue remains highly relevant due to the increasing frequency of armed attacks along the common state border. The head of the foreign ministry emphasized that the parties condemned the criminal activities of criminal and terrorist groups in border areas.
"The Afghan side assured that it will take the necessary measures to prevent a recurrence of such incidents on the border and will conduct a thorough investigation of these incidents," the minister said.

In addition, Sirojiddin Mukhriddin noted that Tajikistan welcomes cooperation from any state aimed at resolving socio-economic issues with neighboring countries, including Afghanistan.
The minister recalled that Tajikistan has sent over 6,000 tons of humanitarian aid to Afghanistan. In 2025, food and other goods were delivered to support the population after the devastating earthquakes.
He also said that Tajikistan and Afghanistan are increasing trade. Dushanbe is reopening border markets and continuing to supply electricity to its neighbor.
It is noted that Tajikistan and Afghanistan share a long common border totaling over 1,300 kilometers. Of this, over 1,100 kilometers are waterways, and nearly 190 kilometers are land. The republic directly borders four northeastern provinces of Afghanistan.
The main part of the border line runs along the Panj River, a left tributary of the Amu Darya. From the Shurabad district onward, the border runs through mountainous terrain, making traffic difficult or virtually impossible.
