The Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) member states are planning to establish a basic organization in the field of transfusiology. A meeting of the expert group to finalize the draft Regulation on the Basic Organization of CIS Member States in the Field of Transfusiology was held on February 3, 2026, at the headquarters of the Commonwealth of Independent States. This was reported by the press service of the Organization's Executive Committee.
The meeting was attended by representatives of Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, as well as the CIS Executive Committee.
At the initiative of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Belarus, it was proposed to grant the status of a core organization in the field of transfusiology to the Republican Scientific and Practical Center for Transfusiology and Medical Biotechnology. This initiative was supported by the health ministers of the Commonwealth of Independent States at a meeting of the CIS Council for Cooperation in Healthcare, which took place in October 2025 in Dushanbe.
The goal of creating a basic organization will be to implement uniform standards for the activities of blood services, as well as to improve the quality of transfusion care provided to the population of the CIS member states.
During the meeting, experts finalized the draft Regulation on the basic organization of CIS member states in the field of transfusiology, as well as the draft Decision of the CIS Economic Council on this issue.
It is noted that the Commonwealth countries have developed a national system for organizing transfusion care. The introduction and dissemination of modern treatment methods have changed its nature, and the donation of blood and its components has become a fundamental factor in the development of high-tech medical care. CIS member states continue to improve their healthcare systems, drawing on advanced experience and best practices.
