The Executive Committee of the Football Federation of Tajikistan held a meeting in Dushanbe to review the results of the past year and identify key areas for the new season, the Federation's press service reported.
At the beginning of the meeting, FFT Vice President Sayvali Doniyorzoda reported on the progress of the protocol of the meeting between the Chairman of the Majlisi Milli Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan, the Mayor of Dushanbe, and the President of the Football Federation of Tajikistan, Rustam Emomali, and representatives of the football community, which took place on February 3, 2025. The report highlighted the results achieved, the activities implemented, and outlined further steps for the development of football in the country.
The Executive Committee then reviewed the outlines of the next season of competitions under the auspices of the Tajikistan Football League. The Executive Committee members approved the Competitions Committee's proposal regarding the start date of the 2026 Tajikistan Championship: the new 12-team top league season will begin on March 6.
A new foreign player limit was also approved. In the 2026 season, each major league club will be able to register no more than seven foreign players, with five foreign players allowed on the field at any one time.
The Gissar Central Stadium has been confirmed as the venue for the 2026 Tajikistan Super Cup match between national champions Istiklol Dushanbe and Tajikistan Cup winners Regar-TadAZ Tursunzade. The match will take place on May 23.
In addition, the FFT Executive Committee approved holding the Round of 16, quarterfinals, and semifinals of the 2026 Tajikistan Cup in a two-match format, with the tournament final to be held at the Vakhsh Arena stadium in Bokhtar.
The Executive Committee members also recommended that the Tajikistan Football League increase the prize fund for the Tajikistan Cup, as well as establish a prize fund for the national championship among top league teams.
Starting with the new season, every major league club will be required to include one young player born in 2008 or later in their starting lineup. However, such a player may only be replaced during a match by a player of the appropriate age.
According to the decision of the FFT Executive Committee, clubs in the Tajik Premier League must have a women's team starting in 2027. It is recommended that this requirement be implemented as a pilot project starting in 2026.
The FFT Executive Committee raised the issue of developing club marketing and recommended that clubs define and approve a colour scheme for their playing uniforms in accordance with their club history.
The meeting focused on the development of futsal in the country. The Committee for Youth and Sports under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan was tasked with introducing futsal groups at specialized football schools across the country. Uvaido Davlatbekov, Technical Director of the Football Federation of Tajikistan, and Payrav Vohidov, Head Coach of the National Futsal Team, presented reports on this issue.
FFT Technical Director Uvaido Davlatbekov presented a report on changes to the training system for young players, presented a detailed analysis, and discussed the implementation and conduct of competitions between specialized football schools.
The Executive Committee also approved the list of the best players and coaches at the end of the 2025 season.
