Police in Tajikistan's capital have uncovered several cases of fraud related to the purchase and sale of apartments, the Ministry of Internal Affairs press service reported.
A 35-year-old local resident filed a complaint with the I. Somoni District Department of Internal Affairs in Dushanbe. He reported that on December 1, 2025, a 37-year-old resident of the Rudaki district, having gained the victim's trust, valued a 116.6-square-meter apartment in the Sino district of Dushanbe at $100,000, took $30,000, and promised to re-register the documents in his name the following day. However, this promise was never fulfilled. As a result, the victim suffered $30,000 in damages.
A 32-year-old local resident also contacted the I. Somoni District Department of Internal Affairs. He reported that in July 2025, a 43-year-old Dushanbe resident gained his trust and purchased a 126.9-square-meter apartment in the capital from him for 700,488 somoni. Of this amount, the buyer paid 540,488 somoni and did not return the remaining 160,000 somoni.
An investigation is underway into these facts.
