Yanshiping Passenger Station in Amdo County, Tibet Autonomous Region, opened for business on Thursday, becoming the highest station on the Qinghai-Tibet Railway at 4,721 meters.
The first passenger train, Z9817, departed the station at 11:00 AM, carrying over 50 passengers, marking the station's official opening. Yanshiping had not been used since the launch of the Qinghai-Tibet Railway in 2006.
The new station is located along the Tuoto River, between Buduquan Station on the Golmud-Lhasa railway line. The opening of Yanshiping gives passengers access to transportation infrastructure in one of the most remote highlands of Tibet, significantly improving transportation links and facilitating the region's development.
