A public meeting was held in Khujand to discuss the prevention of infectious and acute gastrointestinal diseases, according to the Khujand City Executive Authority.
As noted by Sulton Rakhmonzoda, head of the State Sanitary and Epidemiological Center of the Sughd Region, poor personal hygiene, especially among adolescents and young adults, can lead to increased rates of influenza and jaundice in residential buildings and school cafeterias, increased cases of poisoning from canned and perishable foods, and the development of acute respiratory infections.
According to him, the main problems remain poor personal hygiene, neglect of hand washing, poor quality food and beverages, and an insufficient level of hygiene among the population.
It is reported that departments of the Ministry of Health and Social Protection of the Republic of Tajikistan have organized anti-epidemic work aimed at preventing the emergence and spread of infectious diseases.
