Rescuers from the Committee for Emergency Situations and Civil Defense of the Sughd Region evacuated a 13-year-old boy who fell from the roof of a five-story building in Khujand, the agency's press service reported.
The incident occurred on November 23 in the 13th microdistrict of the regional center. According to the Emergency Situations Committee, the teenager climbed onto the roof of a five-story building, attempting to retrieve a cat that had escaped. While climbing, he slipped and fell approximately one and a half meters, ending up on the fifth-floor balcony.
"The boy wanted to climb onto the roof, but ended up slipping and getting caught on the fifth-floor balcony," the department noted.
Emergency Situations Committee rescuers quickly arrived at the scene. Using specialized equipment, they climbed onto the roof, safely evacuated the teenager, and handed him over to his parents.
The unit's commander, Lieutenant Colonel Sultonzoda Pulojon, emphasized that to prevent similar incidents, rescuers are conducting outreach to the public and reminding them of the need to observe safety measures.
